Consequire a escribir en español, que fue mi primera lengua extranjera y por eso me siento como un amor de mi juventud que me dejó un plentitud de memorias dolces. En el pasado viví por algunos años en Yokohama y Kyoto y me parece que las obras políticas han sido excludido del corriente principal de la literature desde los años 70s. Con la excepción de la menoridad de personas que participan en sus actividades, en general los japoneses no mencionan los grupos derechistas. Por eso, pero el nombre de Mishima es bien conocido todavia, aún muchas de las personas a qienes les gustan leer evitan sus obras. Ésto es solamente mis impresiónes personales, y no sé si reflejen la realidad.

各外国語の中でスペイン語は私の初恋とも言え、とりあえずそのことばで続かせていただきます。前に数年間横浜や京都に住んでいたが、日本では七十年代以降、政治的な作品は文学の主流から排除されてきたという感じがしました。外国から見て興味深い社会現象である保守派および右翼団体という存在は、それに積極的に参加している少数を抜けて日本人がそれを無視しようとしてあんまり言及しないようです。ということで、三島氏はまだ知名度が高いと言っても、読書好みの人でも彼の作品を避ける気がします。いまの話しは個人の印象に過ぎなくて、事実はどうでしょうか。

Thanks for your answer. I answer you in english, even though i speak spanish and my japanese it is not so good to talk about this. I love japanese literature and I’m open-minded to all discussion. I know that Mishima Yukio is a controversial figure in Japan, maybe for his political past. Anyway, he has some books (obviosuly not all) that are really good. I talk about Kinkakuji, Spring snow, The sound of waves, Runnaway horses…At least, these are really a very good books. Another thing is that people are interested in reading more books from this author or another. But I like to know the opinion of people that likes literature above all. I think that we have always to separate the artist from his or her work. At least from their personal thoughts, including their political thoughts. Anyway, it is nice to talk about this. are you living in Japan actually?

Me parece que hoy dia la mayoridad de las personas a qienes les interesan las obras de Mishima Yukio no son japonesas sino los extranjeros (y inevitablemente son extranjeros machos). Creo que Abe Kobo es otro ejemplo de un escritor que todavia recibe atención fuera de japon cuando su popularidad ha disminuido en su mismo país.

いまどき三島由紀夫の作品に関心を持っている人たちの中、おそらく日本人ではなく外人が多いという印象を受けています。阿部公房も海外にまだわりと注目を受けて、国内で人気がだんだんなくなってきた作家ではないかと思います。

Thank you, for your comment.
I prefer Junichiro Tanizaki. His Japanese is so perfect and beautiful.
I think second question depends on both learner’s level and taste. If you liked Mishima’s writing in translations, then maybe he is the author to tackle with in the original as I’m not sure which author is easier to read in the original.

I’m a long-term fan of your blog. As a japanese student I love to hear your voice and words. I have a simple question to you. Which of these japanese writers do you prefer: junichiro tanizaki or yukio mishima? For a japanese language student which of them do you recommend me?
