This site is wonderful. Literature in our times is most often silently read with our eyes, but in the not so distant past (in a manner of speaking) literature is meant to be read aloud, making it not only a visual treat, but an auditory pleasure as well. For a STRUGGLING student of the Japanese language such as myself, this site is a Godsend. The pleasure is further heightened by your clear bell-like voice. Thank you very much for bothering to do this.

Your pronunciation sounds perfect – please would you tell me if your clear accent is particular to any specific region of Japan?

My mother tongue is Tosa dialect which is relatively articulate and still keeps lots of antiquated words.
Now I’m living with Tokyo dialect speaker and rarely use Tosa dialect, it seems I’m still pronouncing words in familiar way.

I have only just come across your website and I am so happy to have found it!
I lived in Japan for almost 14 years and I have been back in the UK for a couple of years now.
I have always loved Japanese literature but I always read English translations as my kanji ability is nowhere near good enough to read literary works. Now I am able to listen to it in the original Japanese I’m sure it will help my listening skills and give me a deeper understanding.
I really appreciate all the work you are putting in to this project.
Do you have any plans to read work by Tanizaki? Or more by Soseki? I would love to hear it.

I have spread your Haiku readings into a playlist with Baishou Chieko and Saori Yuki, and the rest with a playlist of shakuhachi and koto. I think it is all Berry, berry pretty.
