Hi I'm really enjoying Genji, but is there anyway of downloading them so I can listen to them on my i-pod?
Hi joe,
Hope it helps;
To download on a PC: Right click the 'Download MP3' link, and 'Save Target As'
To download on a Mac: Hold down the Control button and click.
If you are using Mac, here's a link to apples's FAQ.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcastsfaq.html
Did you make these recordings and if so, would I be able to use some of the readings in a radio documentary that I am doing on The Tale of Genji for CBC Radio?
Yes I did make them. I'd be glad to see those recordings will be used in a radio.
It's in the public domain.
Thanks so much – I will send you an email when the radio documentary airs.
THX a lot!! It really helps.
One point to add. The link of Yuugao09 seems not working and an error page is displayed. Thanks you again.
Hi Creta;
It’s fixed now. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! I’m currently reading Royall Tyler’s english translation of this, and very much wanted to hear the Japanese version while working on my Shirobyoshi costume ^-^. Hopefully the poetry will inspire my sewing to be more Japanese. ^^;;
本当にありがとう.
Thanks for your comment, Moravenka;
I’d love to read Royall Tyler’s one, too. It must be much easier for me to read it than to read the original.
You sew Japanese kimono !? Sugoidesu…
これからも宜しくお願いします。
hello,i really appreciate this audio book…thanks..a lot!
do you know where i can get the english versions?
i’m reading the tuttle’s edition of The Tale of Genji translated by Kencho Suematsu ..for my summer reading and it IS a great challenge for an 8th grade student like me (which actually english is not my mother language)
I’d really appreciate if you can tell me where i can get vthe english version(especially kencho suematsu’s translated version)
Hello dhe;thanks for your feedback. Try Amazon.jp.
It seems several bookshops in the US still have a copy.
err..
i mean the english version audio book
Very,very,very,very good!!!!!!! Kami sama guide your steps,my friend! I tried a lot for japanese audiobooks. I am studying japanese and I need it to improve my study. Sorry my bad english. I don´t have words to thank you. Congratulations for your site.
Thank you, thank you. I appreciate your encouragement !
Thank you so much Kaseumin. I’m ploughing my way through Royall Tyler’s translation (Spring Shoots I and II are so long) and I greatly appreciate hearing the original descriptions he tried to preserve and translate into English. I’m studying Japanese at university and soon we’ll be focusing on ancient Japanese.
Thank you for taking your time out to create such a wonderful site.
Hi Baebi;
Thank you for your comment. I’d love to read Tyler’s one,too.
Most of the times it’s much easier to read English version rather than to read in the original.
Happy reading
